About the Department

The department of Mechanical Engineering was established since the starting of the institution in 1980, with an annual intake of 60 students. It was then increased to 90 students in the year 1995, further it was hiked to 120 students in 2007. The Diploma in Mechanical Engineering programme was first approved by AICTE and affiliated to State Board of Technical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, Chennai in 1982. This department has highly qualified and well experienced faculties with more than 25 years.

It has an excellent infrastructure to satisfy the needs of mechanical engineering students in accordance with the recent curriculum with disciplined culture and ethics to meet the demands of industries. The department organizes frequent Industrial visits and also conducts value added continuing education programs on Solar PV systems, industrial automation, robotic automation and 3D printing etc. In addition, various seminars and entrepreneurial development programs are also being conducted.

Programme objectives

To impart education and training in Diploma in Mechanical Engineering as per curriculum framed by State Board of Technical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, Chennai and to develop diploma Engineers and technicians in diverse fields of Mechanical Engineering.
To improve employability of our students by various continuing education programmes.

Further Education

A diploma holder in Mechanical Engineering can join B.E. in lateral entry and complete the course in three years.
